Every great adventure is better with a companion. Grab a friend and join us for the grand finale of The Hobbit Prerelease Weekend with a special Two-Headed Giant Prerelease. Work together, build your decks side by side, and take on other teams as you journey through Middle-earth in one of Magic's most fun and social formats.
How Two-Headed Giant Works
Each player receives an official The Hobbit Prerelease Pack, but instead of building decks separately, your team combines both Prerelease Packs into one shared card pool. Working together, you'll build two 40-card decks, allowing you to make the best use of your combined cards and create strategies that complement one another.
Each match features four players: you and your teammate facing two opponents. Teammates share a 30-life total, take their turns together, and work as a team to defeat the opposing pair. Cards that refer to "you" affect only the individual player who controls them. Cards that affect "each opponent" affect both players on the opposing team, while effects that say "target opponent" affect only the chosen player. These distinctions can make cards work very differently in Two-Headed Giant, so coordinating with your teammate is an important part of the format.
Your team will compete in three rounds of Swiss.
Prize support is awarded to each player based on your team's final record:
3–0: 9 Play Boosters per player
2–0–1: 6 Play Boosters per player
2–1: 3 Play Boosters per player
